ASHLEY BETONY, Summer 2023 REU
Ashley is a Diné woman from Tonalea, Arizona, and her clans are Kiyaa'áanii (Towering house) born for Tódich'ii'nii (Bitter Water). She is an aspiring soil scientist studying Rangeland Ecology and Management at Utah State University. You can almost always find her with a cup of coffee in her hand listening to music and podcasts or outside in the dirt.
Larry McCallum, Summer 2023 REU
Larry will be completing his B.S. in Environmental Science with a Sustainable Agriculture concentration in December 2023 at UNC Pembroke. He’s competed in the International Science Fair with an award-winning project on honeybees, and his passions range everywhere from the intersection of science and social justice, playing guitar, and reading.
