Welcome to the Choudoir Lab!

Our group focuses on the ecological processes driving plant-soil-microbe interactions in North Carolina agroecosystems. We are in the Plant and Microbial Biology Department at North Carolina State University. Our efforts support decisions about land management, cropping systems, and nutrient inputs to prioritize soil microbiome resilience and to maximize crop productivity. Follow @NCSoilMicro and the NC State Soil Health and Management Extension portal for applied research results and up-to-date information on agricultural microbiomes.

The goal of our applied extension research program is to translate microbiome science to sustainable agriculture. Climate change, intensive agriculture practices, and the increasing demands of food systems threaten soil microbiome biodiversity and their important ecosystem functions. At the same time, microbial solutions to agronomic challenges can support sustainability goals! Our research philosophy aligns with environmental, social, and climate justice goals.
